Faculty Retreat & Community
At the beginning of each semester, SolBridge International School of Business holds a Faculty Retreat, bringing together faculty members from all departments to reconnect and prepare for the semester ahead. The retreat begins with opening remarks and updates from the Executive Dean, alongside a formal welcome to newly joining faculty members. This is followed by departmental overviews from International Relations, Academic Planning and Curriculum, Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, and the Career Development Center.
The retreat also includes an information session on the Annual Faculty Evaluation process, as well as updates from key faculty committees, including the Sustainability and ESG Committee, the Faculty Welfare and Development Committee, the Grants and Joint Programs Committee, and the Liberal Arts Programs.
In addition to the semesterly retreat, faculty convene on a monthly basis to ensure continued alignment across departments and to sustain the collaborative momentum established each semester.
FIKA
SolBridge faculty regularly come together for Fika, a Swedish tradition centered on taking a shared break with coffee and light refreshments. These gatherings are organized independently by faculty members, with coffee and tea provided, and all members welcome to contribute snacks or refreshments to share. Fika offers a relaxed setting for faculty to connect with one another beyond the context of formal meetings.
Mentorship Program
SolBridge maintains a Mentorship Program designed to support newly arriving faculty members as they settle into the university and the local community. The program pairs new faculty with experienced colleagues who serve as points of contact for guidance and support during the transition period. Faculty interested in serving as mentors are invited to express their interest through periodic surveys distributed by the university.
Special Lectures
SolBridge hosts special lectures and knowledge-sharing sessions throughout the academic year, featuring faculty members and invited guests who share insights on research, pedagogy, and emerging developments within their respective fields. These sessions provide an opportunity for faculty to engage with new ideas and perspectives across disciplines.
Mandatory Training for Faculty
To uphold a safe, inclusive, and secure campus environment, SolBridge requires all faculty members to complete a series of mandatory training programs throughout the year, including:
Disability Awareness Training
Personal Information Protection and Information Security Training
Emergency Welfare Support Education
These training programs reflect the university's ongoing commitment to maintaining a respectful, compliant, and secure environment for all faculty and staff.
Faculty Well-being
SolBridge is committed to supporting the well-being of its faculty members, both professionally and personally. This commitment is reflected through a range of initiatives, including informal community gatherings such as Fika, structured mentorship for newly arriving faculty, and consistent communication through monthly departmental meetings — all of which contribute to a strong and supportive faculty community.
Faculty also have access to on-campus gym facilities as part of the university's broader efforts to support physical health and work-life balance. The Faculty Welfare and Development Committee plays a central role in these efforts, working to identify and address the evolving needs of faculty members across the university.
SolBridge continues to explore and expand opportunities that support faculty well-being, including additional wellness and support resources going forward.
